Testosterone enanthate is a long-acting male contraceptive that can be administered through a variety of routes (intramuscular injection of 200 to 500 mg each time from twice a week to once every three weeks). It has been tested on more than 100 volunteers. The results show that intramuscular injection of 250 mg per week can cause azoospermia or severe oligozoospermia in most men after 10 weeks. The sperm count can be restored after stopping the drug for a certain period of time. The adverse reactions are the same as before. If the injection interval is extended to more than 10 to 12 days, the effect of doubling the dose will not be ideal. Testosterone enanthate only needs to be injected once a week, which seems to be superior to testosterone propionate; but even so, it is difficult for most people to accept it. The other two testosterone preparations, testosterone cypionate and testosterone cyclohexanecarboxylate, also require weekly injections.
